Pilchard Cottage is situated in the old fishing quarter and conservation area of Downalong, the very heart of old St Ives full of twisting turning narrow streets. The area is scattered with many art galleries, great restaurants and fascinating architecture and is completely enclosed by the harbour and surrounding sandy beaches. The cottage is just a short stroll away from everything that St Ives has to offer.
Pilchard Cottage is in the perfect location for surfing or lounging on the beach. The Harbour beach is closest and just paces away, Porthmeor beach with it’s amazing surfing and vast soft sand is just 3 minutes on foot whilst beautiful and sheltered Porthgwidden beach is also just a 3 minute walk away.
There are many galleries nearby including the renowned Tate and Barbara Hepworth sculpture gardens. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring St Ives’ narrow and higgledy-piggledy streets- the houses have history and the streets are so full of character.
St Ives now boasts some of the best restaurants in the South-West, all within a short walk of the cottage. The famous Sloop Inn is situated just paces away on the harbour front and Fore Street is a gentle stroll for those browsing the local shops.
