Getting friends, family or colleagues together for a Christmas shindig in St Ives? Let us help you out with a few suggestions of local restaurants and bars that are offering party menus and packages.
From luxury hotels to lively pubs, here are some of the places we’d choose to pull our crackers this Christmas.
This lively and much-loved spot on Wharf Road is taking bookings for Christmas parties. Expect something rather more laid-back than traditional turkey and tinsel (although the cheesier the Christmas jumper the better, it seems…).
All branches of Hubbox are offering Christmas menus; however we love our local one the best – and you’ll even get a view of the Christmas lights along the harbour.
Perched above Porthminster Beach, Pedn Olva has one of the best locations in St Ives. If you fancy festive fayre with a side-serving of the spectacular wintry Atlantic, this is the place to be.
Pedn Olva has a Christmas party menu, with a choice of two or three courses. Christmas lunch itself is now fully-booked; however there are still spaces for their New Year’s Eve party (at the time of writing…)
This lovely hotel is offering Christmas party lunches and dinners. But here’s a thing – they’re also serving Christmas party afternoon teas. We’ve fallen for this original idea, which combines high tea with the classic Cornish cream tea, then adds mulled wine.
Join in with a table at a party night, or book an exclusive do in one of their event spaces. You can also book a table for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The Carbis Bay Hotel’s little sister establishment was simply made for festive cosiness. With small-scale boutique rooms, inviting corners, and warming log fires, it’s the perfect place for a Christmas party.
They’re offering the full menu of Christmas events: short breaks, parties, Christmas day lunch itself, and New Year celebrations. For Christmas parties, guests can enjoy a four-course dinner, a DJ until late, and discounted B&B if they want to make a night of it. The Gannet can also host exclusive events.
Also in Carbis Bay, UNA Resort is offering a flexible approach to Christmas partying. You can book a table at a party night, which includes live music or a DJ, or go to the Ball on the 14th. For larger groups, UNA will tailor an event.
The out-of-town location means that there’s a handy car park, and UNA is offering a shuttle service into town on New Year’s Eve. If you’re booking a work do, and really want to spoil the team, ask about spa days…
The welcoming bar and restaurant at this award-winning campsite offers wonderful local produce; and this year, they’re running Christmas party lunches and Casino nights.
If you’re booking a family celebration here, young diners can let off steam in Polmanter’s two playgrounds, or in the new soft play area in wintrier weather. The large car park is another good reason to take your party out of town.
This cosy pub in Lelant, a short drive from St Ives, can cater for parties of up to 40 guests, with a choice of two or three course menus.
You can celebrate at lunchtime or in the evening; and you also have the choice between eating in the restaurant or the bar. The Watermill is one of those lovely old buildings that was simply made for Christmas.
Of course, this list is far from exhaustive; and honourable mentions must go to Tregenna Castle which is offering party nights, The Balnoon Inn on the Coach Road, which is famous for its roasts, and friendly Birdies Bistro on the Hayle Estuary at Lelant.
From office bash to a family get-together, St Ives and surrounds can cater to every type of festive do. So, don that Rudolph jumper (extra points if it lights up), grab your Secret Santa parcel, and bring your party to St Ives this Christmas.
