Event Details:
St.Ives Folk in Kettle & Wink (by The Western Hotel)
A celebration of all that’s best about St. Ives Folk down at the Kettle & Wink on Wednesday – demonstrating what distinguishes it from the successful and much loved open-mic nights in the town - when five stalwarts of the past amazing thirteen months each play at least a half hour set to provide a solid night with entertainment guaranteed and nothing to pay!. Leading the way is St. Ives’ own blues queen, Mo George, who, whether reprising the legendary sound of Bessie Smith or singing her own Cornish blues, always delights the crowd. Mo is a native of St. Ives but now lives way over on the other coast at Marazion and it from this distant land that Pete Coyne hails. Pete was outstanding on his last appearance with his backing band of fiddle and drum and whether this combination is repeated at St. Ives Folk next week or it’s simply one of his sublime solo sessions, a superb performance is guaranteed. Guaranteeing superb performances is all part of the day job for Sarah Lincoln, doyenne of the local theatrical scene, who takes a break from directing the outstandingly successful St. Ives Community Play production of “Much Ado About Nothing” – which will return on the Island in the second week of the St. Ives September Festival – to demonstrate her all round talents as a singer/songwriter and guitarist. Mellow, melodious and jam-packed with fun! An irreplaceable St. Ives Folk regular over the months has been the incomparable Andy Bunce and he will, on Wednesday, once more give a riveting demonstration of some of the finest guitar playing to be heard anywhere in Cornwall and fresh from the critical acclaim of “genius” for his new “Bloody Rubbish” CD, another St. Ives Folk veteran, Robin Vizard once more makes the journey from St. Agnes to the Kettle & Wink to thrill the crowd with his “terrifying tales of ordinary life.” Join in the celebration down at St. Ives Folk on Wednesday!
