Dramatic moments in nature inspire much of Alexandra’s paintings.
Relying on memory of impressions enables her to convey the essence of a place without drawing too heavily on representation. The expressive and captivating seascapes and vibrant abstract paintings are emotionally provocative, reflective and engaging. Whilst her work, and the range of techniques she employs is constantly evolving, themes of movement and light are frequently explored. Her exciting colour palette and dynamic paintings make her work distinctly original and instantly recognisable. Alexandra firmly believes that art should never be pretentious, it simply has to please the viewer.
The Gallery is a unique space in the centre of St Ives and well worth a visit.

Smith Jewellery is run by Lucy and Robert who have both completed 6-year apprenticeships in diamond mounting and diamond setting in Hatton Garden, London's jewellery quarter, and London's West End. After a spell of a few years working independently for some of the high-end names in the jewellery industry, we have now begun producing jewellery together. Now, with over 20 years experience between us our aim is simply to produce high quality jewellery using our own ideas. The manufacturing techniques of the jewellery trade have advanced increasingly in recent years, but we try to combine new and old skills, and remain as creative as possible.
We run a small workshop away from the expense and trappings of London so we are able to offer handmade, and often one-off pieces of jewellery at a more reasonable price. Because we are a workshop selling direct to the public we have cut out the 'workshop to shop charge'. In addition, because we still source our materials via London based suppliers, we have not compromised on our quality or service.
The workshop offers clients a unique insight into how the production process takes place. We can help the client in choosing a design and guide them through to the best choice of precious metals, the right quality of diamonds and the best colour from the vast choice of gemstones available. We will also help the client to maximise on their budget to the full. Because we actually make the jewellery and do not just sell it, we know a designs pros and cons and can advise them from a practical point of view. We want our clients to be completely satisfied with their item of jewellery, we are producing it, and it is therefore our reputation on the line- so unequivocally yes, we want them to feel happy.
